J.
Fletcher Bryant, Jr. was born and raised in Tidewater,
Virginia. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and makes his
permanent home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He began painting in
1968 and his love for his native area has been reflected in his
many works. Self taught and having studied with various
artists, he has developed a style that preserves for others the
nostalgia, beauty, and history of Tidewater.
His award winning
works have appeared in and graced the covers of publications
throughout Virginia. His paintings and drawings have found
their way into virtually every state and many foreign countries.
Working in several
mediums-- oil, watercolor, and pen and ink, he has in
publication over 85 signed and numbered limited edition prints,
many of which he has hand painted, giving each a touch of
originality.
Active in civic
affairs, he was one of the founders of the Back Bay Wildfowl
Guild, Inc. While serving as guild president, he was a
driving force in establishing the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage
Museum/de Witt Cottage.
