J. Fletcher Bryant, Jr. was born and raised in Tidewater, Virginia.  He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and makes his permanent home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

He began painting in 1968 and his love for his native area has been reflected in his many works.  Self taught and having studied with various artists, he has developed a style that preserves for others the nostalgia, beauty, and history of Tidewater.

His award winning works have appeared in and graced the covers of publications throughout Virginia.  His paintings and drawings have found their way into virtually every state and many foreign countries.

Working in several mediums-- oil, watercolor, and pen and ink, he has in publication over 85 signed and numbered limited edition prints, many of which he has hand painted, giving each a touch of originality.

Active in civic affairs, he was one of the founders of the Back Bay Wildfowl Guild, Inc.  While serving as guild president, he was a driving force in establishing the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum/de Witt Cottage.
